System Administrator

Akaza Research seeks a system administrator to support the company's software development and product teams. The right candidate will have the chance to work with highly motivated professionals who are using open source technology to improve the ways in which biomedical clinical research is conducted. Candidate should have 4+ years experience in system administration or related field. Open source development, enterprise IT background, and experience working in regulated environments are a plus.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar Linux/Unix server administration
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Windows 2000, XP
  • Basic TCP/IP Networking, DNS, firewall management and configuration
  • Excellent technical writing, time management, communications, and organizational skills

All of the following skills and experience would be considered a strong "plus":

  • Apache Tomcat, JBoss, and Apache webserver administration
  • PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or SQL Server administration
  • Experience in medical/pharma/clinical research setting
  • Familiarity with SOAP and Services-Oriented Architectures, XML
  • Windows 2003 Server/Exchange/ Active Directory
  • VMWare

Position Tasks:

The Akaza Research System Administrator works to support servers, network, and software installation/maintenance for Akaza's internal network and the company's OpenClinica Enterprise product to clients. This includes the following duties:

  • Perform server and software installation, and configuration for clients.
  • Be responsible for internal network and servers, including routine maintenance, backup, security, and user account management.
  • Meet logistical, communications, and documentation requirements for OpenClinica Enterprise installation, account setup, training, support, and consulting services.

Job Location:

This position is for a full-time or part-time employee at our office in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Partial remote work/telecommuting possible for the right candidate. We are located near the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line. No agencies please.

Compensation:
