Open Source Java Developer, Clinical Informatics

Akaza Research is looking for Java programmers to join our development team. Our flagship product, OpenClinica, is a standards-based, enterprise-capable open source (LGPL) application for data capture, management, and exchange in clinical trials. You’ll work with a small core team and a large community of experts that includes members of well-known academic and government institutions. Candidates may be of varying experience, but should at a minimum have a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of experience in computer science or a related field and exposure to the following technologies:

  • J2EE
  • Servlets, JSP, Struts, Spring
  • Model-driven development
  • Tomcat and/or JBoss
  • SQL & Hibernate
  • Web services, SOA, XML
Experience in XPath, AJAX, Eclipse, Grid computing, and PHP desirable as well.

If you’ve contributed to open-source projects in the past, make sure to let us know! We’re not saying it will get you the job, but it will help. Feel free to submit code samples with your resume where applicable.

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Plan and develop cutting edge features and components for heath research technology using an open source development model.
  • Interact with development team members, open source community members, and customers in all stages of development and deployment, including planning, documentation, construction, implementation, release, and maintenance.
  • Use your copious creativity to suggest new features, products, and services for the OpenClinica community and our customers – and be rewarded for implementing them!
  • Have a sense of humor--especially around release days :-)

    This position is for a full-time employee at our office in Kendall Square, Cambridge. We are conveniently located near the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line. No recruiting agencies please.

    Compensation:
